We are grateful the Class of 2023 seniors and their families will be able to enjoy a normal, in-person graduation and senior week celebration festivities! As co-chairs of Senior Celebration and Project Graduation, our goals are to work closely with FHS to follow the traditions of past Falmouth graduating classes, streamline communication and processes for senior families, cultivate a community volunteers, celebrate our seniors and ensure they are safe on graduation night.
Falmouth High School plans the graduation ceremony, candlelight, senior banquet and other school sponsored events. Senior Week, Senior Breakfast and Project Graduation are planned by the Senior Celebration/Project Graduation Commitee. The committee works closely with the Class of 2023 advisors to ensure all the events and festivities run smoothly and to ensure that all FHS graduating seniors can participate.
Senior Week involves a multitude of traditions and festivities to celebrate our seniors during the week leading up to graduation. Project Graduation is a chemical free celebration for all graduating seniors, and takes place immediately following graduation on Sunday June 4, 2023 (the seniors will board a bus at FHS directly following graduation). The celebration is at a different location each year and is kept a secret from the graduates until after the graduation ceremony. It is a night filled with activities and memories, fully chaperoned by volunteer FHS teachers and administrators. Project Graduation started in 1979 after the Oxford Hills area in Maine experienced seven alcohol and other drug-related teen deaths during the commencement season. As a result of this tragedy, the schools and communities in the Oxford Hills area started Project Graduation as an alternative to the traditional graduation night drinking and driving temptations. By 1986, Project Graduation activities were held in all 50 states.
Senior Week and Project Graducation are 100% self-funded without financial support from FHS. The majority of our contributions come from parents and the generosity of Falmouth and Greater Portland area businesses. Please consider supporting the Class of 2023 by volunteering or making a financial contribution if you are able. We are grateful for your support as we celebrate our seniors and this exciting milestone.
