Dear Friends,
Senior year is here. We are super excited to start planning for the 2022 graduation. Our goal is to plan and follow the same traditions and protocol as the senior classes before them. Now more than ever, we need your assistance. Please consider donating either your time or resources or both if possible.
The goal of Project Graduation has always been to provide a safe environment for our seniors on their graduation night. In 1979, the Oxford Hills area in Maine experienced seven alcohol and other drug-related teen deaths during the commencement season. As a result of this tragedy, the schools and communities in the Oxford Hills area offered their students an alternative to the traditional graduation night drinking and driving temptations that all too often end in tragedy. By 1986, Project Graduation activities were held in all 50 states.
Falmouth High School’s Project Graduation is an all night, drug and alcohol free celebration for graduating high school seniors. The celebration is at a different location every year and is kept a secret from the graduates until the last minute. The event begins the evening after the graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 5, 2022 and continues into the following morning. It is a night filled with planned activities and is fully chaperoned by volunteer parents and teachers.
This is a totally self-supporting program sponsored by the Project Graduation Committee; we receive no funding from the school budget. The majority of the money is raised by parents and the generosity of businesses in the Falmouth and Greater Portland area. We understand this year will be different than all others for our seniors, our families and our business community. However, even though we don’t know what the future holds, we want to ensure our seniors have a special celebration to end their high school career. Fundraising is going to be more challenging than ever before. We hope that you will join us and demonstrate your support of this event by making a financial contribution. Please know how grateful we are if you are able to extend your support. We anticipate needing to rely heavily on the generosity of our senior parents.
Stay tuned for details and meeting invites. We welcome the help and support of our senior parents to make this event great.
Sincerely,
The 2022 FHS Project Graduation Committee
